Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to Health Innovation Journal Africa (HIJ Africa). All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal, specifically looking for relevance to the African healthcare context. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for double-blind peer review.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Authors must check the following boxes before proceeding:

  • This submission has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal.
  • The manuscript fits within the Aims and Scope of HIJ Africa.
  • All authors have made significant contributions (ICMJE criteria) and approved the final version.
  • Ethical approval from the relevant Institutional Review Board (IRB) is obtained and the letter is attached (if applicable).
  • Patient/Participant consent forms have been secured where required.
  • The similarity index is below 20% (checked via Turnitin), with no single source exceeding 5%.
  • The manuscript file is BLINDED (no author names/affiliations) to ensure double-blind peer review.
  • References are formatted according to the Vancouver style.
  • All data and materials necessary to support the findings are available, and data sharing has been disclosed.
  • AI Disclosure: If AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) were used, this has been clearly disclosed in the manuscript. AI tools are NOT listed as authors.
